While University of Mobile has some great teachers, unfortunately newly graduated students are running the rest of the departments, and you will spend hours running between the business office and financial aid because neither can answer a question. They keep sending you back and forth, when they simply could pick up the phone and call each other. Upper management does not seem to be involved enough to correct errors or properly train staff. They provide information that you find out months later was inaccurate regarding finances, and they do not seem to make any effort to correct it or seem to understand the impact on a family. Mandatory meetings for students are cancelled without anyone being notified, or you receive a text 5 minutes before a meeting that it is being held and you need to be there, with no prior notice. It feels so completely disorganized. Finally, this is a Christian school, yet athletes are not held to the same standard as others, as having sex in the rooms and being caught with drugs will only result in a "warning" despite the fact that drugs are illegal. Wouldn't the idea be to bring in athletes to witness to them, or is it more important to let things slide by to have winning teams? I thought Christian schools were to be held to a higher standard. There are, however, some amazing and loving teachers.

I'm a junior and the only best part of my experience at University of Mobile was a instructor name Dr. Downs. He is the best instructor the school has. He doesn't pass judgment and he is ALWAYS willing to help ALL of his students. (Not just certain ones.) Unfortunately the rest of my experience was not so grand. I have dealt with racism there mainly from the staff in the registrar's office and a few instructor's. If I could do it all over again I would have never came to this school.

This is an amazing place! My son just graduated and had an excellent experience. I have also worked here for many years and absolutely love it. I highly recommend anyone looking for a university to visit and see for yourself!

I graduated from the University of Mobile, and now (years later) I'm working at the school. I've worked here for two years now, and I love it. The impact that this university has had on my life is profound to say the least. As a student I got to know many of the staff and faculty personally. They were always willing to work with me to find a solution to whatever problem I had. The professors always went out of their way to help me both inside and outside of the classroom. UM was instrumental in giving me a quality education coupled with a Christian worldview that I will forever be grateful for. I would highly recommend UM to anyone looking for a great college experience.

I initially thought of the University of Mobile's campus as a really great and friendly Christian place, where the people liked doing the jobs they have, but now I'm not so sure. I have been to the campus multiple times, visiting my girlfriend. At first, the security men seemed like genuinely nice guys, but as time has passed, the more rude a couple of them have gotten. They seem to either sincerely hate their jobs and take out their bad attitude on other people, or treat me as if I'm sort of a criminal. I don't feel comfortable on this campus anymore. I feel like I'm constantly being watched and sometimes followed by certain security. I feel threatened by their presence to the point where I don't feel welcome anywhere on campus. On top of that, the cafeteria staff seemed rather rude these most recent times. They seemed like they didn't want to be here and their attitudes reflect that. There were knats stuck to brownies and one of the workers got an attitude when she was asked about when they open on Saturday. We informed her that the website says 10 and she very rudely said, "No, we don't open until 10:30! We just felt the need to let her know nicely, that the website says 10 and we probably would've been fine with her answer if she hadn't had such a disrespectful attitude about it. So many different things are starting to make me question what kind of standards the University is holding their workers to. If I were a parent, I would be concerned about these issues and as well as others not mentioned. I would expect these kinds of things from a public university, but not from a private, more expensive Baptist college that is supposed to be better in every way. I'm sincerely disappointed with this school's quality right now and I for sure will find somewhere else to transfer to next year.
